OccuPros is placing a full-time Corporate Safety Manager with a specialty chemical manufacturer in the Houston, Texas area. This is a W-2 position through OccuPros, with the opportunity to join the client directly. Target start date: Monday, November 2, 2026. Compensation and Schedule - $110,000 to $130,000 per year, paid biweekly, based on experience and credentials - Full time, exempt, on the client's schedule, including periodic night and weekend coverage and an after-hours on-call rotation - Field based across the client's facilities in the Houston, Texas area - Regular driving between the client's Houston-area facilities, up to daily, with no overnight travel - Employment: W-2 through OccuPros LLC, assigned to the client, with the opportunity to join the client directly - Paid time off and paid company holidays while employed by OccuPros The Opportunity OccuPros is placing a full-time Corporate Safety Manager with a specialty chemical manufacturer in the Houston, Texas area. The company operates multiple facilities, including 24-hour operations and a marine terminal regulated under the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA). The role reports to the company's HSSE Director and leads worker safety, contractor safety, emergency response, and the security program across every site. This is a field leadership job, not a desk job. The client was clear: most of your week is spent in operating areas with operators, supervisors, plant managers, and contractors, setting one standard across every facility and verifying that permits, JHAs, and safety systems work at the point of work rather than on paper. If you are the safety professional operators trust first, the one who coaches before citing and still stops the job when it needs stopping, this is a chance to build a program people believe in at a high-hazard chemical operation, with a company behind you that backs the call. Before You Apply: Quick Self-Screen You should be able to answer yes to every question below. These requirements come from the client and we cannot submit a candidate who falls short. - Do you have 7 or more years of hands-on industrial safety experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing, toll processing, terminals, or similar high-hazard operations? - Have you spent at least 3 years in a lead or management safety role covering multiple facilities or a large single facility? - Do you currently hold OSHA 30-Hour General Industry and a current 40-Hour HAZWOPER? - Do you hold a current TWIC card? - Can you work field based across Houston-area facilities, including periodic night and weekend coverage and an after-hours on-call rotation? Key Responsibilities - Own the worker safety standards across all facilities: lockout/tagout and energy isolation, confined space entry, hot work, fall protection, line and equipment opening, PPE, powered industrial trucks, cranes and rigging, electrical safe work practices, and excavation - Own the safe work permit and JHA/JSA processes and verify through field audits that they reflect real job conditions and are used at the point of work - Lead the behavioral and field observation program, coach to safe behavior, and use observation data to drive program and leadership action - Conduct scheduled and unannounced inspections and drive findings to closure with named owners - Lead incident and near-miss investigations using structured root cause analysis, and make sure corrective actions are completed and verified effective, with lessons learned shared across every site - Manage the immediate response to workplace injuries, including care coordination, OSHA recordability determinations, and required notifications - Own the contractor safety program, from prequalification and orientation through field oversight of high-risk work, and plan safety for turnarounds, shutdowns, and capital projects - Own the emergency response program: emergency action and response plans, the annual drill and exercise calendar, and relationships with fire departments, mutual aid organizations, and the LEPC - Manage inspection and testing of life safety and emergency equipment and the vendors who service it - Own the company security program, including access control, badging, TWIC verification, and security vendor oversight, and support the HSSE Director and Facility Security Officer with MTSA drills and field verification of Facility Security Plan measures - Deliver field training for high-risk work and verify competency in the field, not just course completion - Lead safety committees, support Management of Change and Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews, and support PSM elements that depend on field execution - Track leading and lagging indicators and report trends and recommended actions to the HSSE Director and site leadership - Represent the safety, emergency response, and security programs during customer, regulatory, and insurance audits Who We Are Looking For - You earn credibility with operators in the field before you ask anything of them. - You coach first, and you still stop the job when conditions call for it, with composure. - You hold one standard at every facility and hold people to it constructively. - You close the loop. Findings get owners, corrective actions get verified, and people who report hazards hear what was done. - You use data to focus effort on the highest risks rather than the loudest ones. - You will not sign for a permit, an inspection, or a training record that did not actually happen. Minimum Qualifications - 7 or more years of hands-on industrial safety experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing, toll processing, terminal, or similar high-hazard operations - At least 3 years in a lead or management safety role covering multiple facilities or a large single facility - A demonstrated record of working directly with operations and contractors in the field rather than in a primarily administrative safety role - Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis and driving corrective actions to closure - OSHA 30-Hour General Industry - 40-Hour HAZWOPER, current - Current TWIC card - Valid driver's license and reliable transportation - Working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 (including LOTO, confined space, hot work, walking-working surfaces and fall protection, PPE, HazCom, and HAZWOPER) and 29 CFR 1926 as it applies to contractor work - Strong written skills: clear investigation reports, procedures, and management summaries - Ability to wear required PPE including respiratory protection (medical clearance and fit test required), climb stairs, ladders, and platforms, access tank tops and elevated areas, and lift up to 50 pounds - Availability for after-hours emergency response and periodic night and weekend coverage - Successful background check and drug screen, and authorization to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related technical field (equivalent experience considered) - CSP, ASP, or CHST - Facility Security Officer training, or willingness to complete it within 12 months - Experience at MTSA-regulated facilities or other site security programs - Experience at PSM-covered facilities - Experience coordinating emergency drills with fire departments and emergency responders - OSHA 500/510 trainer; NIMS/ICS 100, 200, and 700 (300 and 400 a plus); First Aid/CPR/AED instructor - Familiarity with NFPA standards and with DOT hazardous materials, EPA, and TCEQ requirements - Bilingual in English and Spanish What OccuPros Offers - A senior, field-first safety leadership role at a high-hazard chemical operation, with real ownership of the program - A clear first-year plan built on the client's 90-day, 6-month, and 12-month milestones - W-2 employment through OccuPros, with the opportunity to join the client directly - A senior OccuPros safety advisor and program resources behind you - Paid time off and paid company holidays while employed by OccuPros - A safety organization that backs a stop-work call instead of asking you to explain it away Every OccuPros employee completes our orientation program, The OccuPros Way, on paid company time. You will also have a senior OccuPros safety advisor behind you for investigations, program decisions, and regulatory questions, and our library of program templates and bilingual training resources. A note on benefits, because you should hear it from us and not in week one: while employed by OccuPros, benefits are paid time off and paid company holidays. OccuPros does not currently offer medical, dental, vision, or retirement plans. If you join the client directly, the client's own benefit plans apply. Work Environment The majority of time is spent in operating areas of chemical facilities, with exposure to outdoor weather, heat, noise, and chemical hazards. The role requires walking extended distances, climbing stairs, ladders, and platforms, accessing tank tops, elevated work areas, and confined space entry points, wearing required PPE including respiratory protection, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check, a drug screen, respirator medical clearance and fit testing, and the client's own site access requirements. The client interviews and approves the final candidate. How to Apply Submit the application form on this page with your resume. Interviews begin the week of October 19, so apply now. In your resume, make your chemical or terminal experience, multi-site leadership, HAZWOPER, and TWIC easy to find. You may also email your resume as a PDF to resumes@occupros.com with the subject line CSM Houston. The client's name is shared with candidates who advance to interviews.
